School Uniform

The school uniform gives the children a sense of pride and belonging.  The school colours are royal blue and grey.  Our uniform is practical, easy to put on and remove, and avoids fashion competitiveness.

The school sweatshirt (for boys) and cardigan (for girls) were designed by our pupils and are available from Trutex in Bartholomew Street, Newbury.

Boys wear grey shorts, or long trousers in the cold weather.  Girls wear grey skirts or pinafore dresses.  They may wear blue and white checked dresses in the summer. All children wear white short or long-sleeved polo shirts.

Platform shoes and high heels are not allowed.  They can pose a health and safety risk not only to your own child but also to others.  Children need indoor footwear that is safe in school; something soft and flexible ie slippers, pumps or sandals.  This helps to keep our carpets, and the children clean!

Children should not wear jewellery to school.  Watches may be worn, but it is the child’s responsibility to look after his/her property.  Class teachers cannot be responsible for personal possessions.  Children with pierced ears should only wear studs to school.

We recommend that children bring a book bag to school. These are helpful for letters and books to come to and from school.  John Rankin book bags can also be purchased from Trutex.

It is a requirement of the National Curriculum that all children change for PE.  Shorts and a T-shirt in any colour are acceptable.  All children need plimsolls, not trainers, for outdoor PE.

Ear studs should be covered with sticking plaster, or removed for PE.  Please provide a suitable container, or a stock of plasters

It is helpful if parents provide a drawstring bag in which the PE kit is kept throughout the week.  This can then be taken home for washing on Fridays.

Reception children play outside every day, so they need to have a coat, waterproofs and/or a sun hat according to the weather. Please also provide wellingtons for wet play.

Please ensure that ALL clothing and property is marked with your child’s name.

Water bottles

We believe that children should have free access to drinking water throughout the day. Please could you provide a named water bottle each day and ensure that your child takes the bottle home each evening to be washed and refilled. Thank you.
